Negative Painting Workshop with Nancy Newman
Wednesday, November 13, 2013; 10am - 4pm
Workshop Fee: $75.00
Location: Barry Coombs Studio, 224-15 Adrian Avenue, Toronto

Not to be Negative, but….
Artists search for ways to give their work the “Wow” factor. We want viewers to take that extra moment to look at what we have created. One way to achieve this is to paint in the negative. Use the space in and around an object to enhance the illusion of depth and increase the range of values in your painting.

If you would like to explore this exciting process of negative painting, this workshop is for you. Through a step-by-step demonstration, you will create a beautiful fall forest painted in the negative. This is an enjoyable and effective exercise that will allow you to incorporate negative painting into your own work….Painting negatively can be a very positive experience!

To enroll for this workshop, contact Nancy directly at nancynewmanart@gmail.com. Directions and a material list will be provided upon enrollment.

Nancy is an award-winning artist and teacher. She is the President of the Society of York Region Artists (SOYRA) and Past President of the Toronto Watercolour Society (TWS).  Nancy has exhibited her work in many juried, group and solo shows including TWS Aquavision, Art Aurora and SOYRA shows.  She has received several First Place, Honourable Mention and People's Choice Awards.

Ireland is calling.  We are thrilled to present this opportunity to painters and photographers who would like to immerse themselves in the landscape of the Emerald Isle.  We will be painting on location and refining our photography skills at specially selected sites in the southwest of Ireland. Our charming Irish chauffeur will pick us up at the airport and act as our guide for this entire trip.  No worries about taxis, jumping on and off buses or trains.  Just time for you in a country that welcomes you with warmth, humour and breathtaking beauty.

On Location in France: Anticipation 103

Just a few pics of the flora of France.  Plane trees and poppies and grapes oh my!
You see these unusual trees everywhere, although they seem to be causing some controversy in Southern France.

They are called Plane trees, and have a connection to Napoleon.

Vineyards everywhere....no wasted space!

May/June is poppy season....pack your reds!
